The UK’s first ever Social Mobility Awards draws an impressive list of entries

27th June 2017: Enthusiastic response from British companies and organisations in promoting social mobility

The deadline for entry into the inaugural UK Social Mobility Awards has now passed. Submissions across the categories, came from a wide range of sectors, including law, finance, technology, government, media and business, showing that progressive companies across the board are embracing social mobility initiatives, and recognising that it not only benefits business, but society as a whole.

Tunde Banjoko OBE, Founder of Making the Leap, said:

‘I’m delighted with the response to these inaugural awards, with around 100 submissions from organisations the length and breadth of the country.  It proves that social mobility really does matter to businesses and that they are willing and able to play their part in addressing this important challenge.’

Shortlisting will take place between now and 7th July, before our finalists are announced on 10th  July. Our judging panel includes prominent figures from business, charity, politics and the public sector and is chaired by Sir Ken Olisa OBE. The panel’s chosen winners will be announced at an awards gala on 12th October. Celebrating these achievements will not only unite businesses and organisations, but it will herald a new generation of social mobility leaders in the UK.
