The partnerships Making The Leap have are fantastic’ – Jesse’s Making The Leap Success Story

Jun 8, 2025

After Jesse graduated from university, he was finding it difficult to secure a role. That is when he found Making The Leap. Jesse approached the ACE workshop with an open mind and gave it his all. After the programme he went on to secure a fantastic role as a Financial Assistant at CMC Markets.

‘’I saw myself lacking in a lot of the things that were needed to get jobs.’’

“Before finding Making The Leap, I had just graduated from the University of Kent where I studied Financial Economics. I was finding it difficult to find a role and I had not had much work experience. I saw myself lacking in a lot of the skills that were needed to secure a job including interview skills, presentation skills and public speaking.

“Then one of my friends who had completed the ACE programme recommended Making The Leap to me. They said it was useful, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to brush up on my skills, so I signed up.”

“Making the Leap played a key role in helping me land my current position.’’

“The programme helped me identify areas I was lacking in when completing job applications and gave me the tools and confidence to network. Making The Leap’s network was really useful. After the programme, I went on a six-month internship with a startup, they didn’t keep me on but I continued going on insight days and kept in touch with Making The Leap.

“Then an internship opportunity came up with CMC Markets, Making The Leap and their partners were vital in helping me prepare for the interview process. I came into the office and Krupa helped me practice interview techniques and gave me some useful advice on what I could work on. Making The Leap partners, Hedley May, also supported me by providing mock interviews.

“I went on to secure a three-month internship with CMC Markets during Summer 2023 and afterwards they offered me a full-time position as a Finance Assistant! Making The Leap played a key role in helping me land my current position.

“I think the partnerships Making The Leap have are fantastic. It makes an impact. The advice, application help and mock interviews I received gave me the confidence needed to succeed.”

“Making The Leap actually care about helping young people get into the careers they want.”

“I would encourage any young person thinking about the ACE programme to go for it – you’ve got nothing to lose. It is an amazing opportunity, and you get to meet people in a similar situation to you. I still keep in contact with the friends I made through Making The Leap.

“The programme helped me with confidence building, interview skills and networking. Making The Leap actually care about helping young people get into careers they want.”
