– Head of Development

I am responsible for raising funds for the charity.  I submit applications to grant making bodies mainly Trusts and Foundations and manage our relationships with those organisations.  I look after our individual donors, so I keep them updated with our work and support anyone who fundraises in aid of Making The Leap.  I also help to organise our annual fundraising gala dinner. In my role I love being able to engage with a variety of people and to be able to share the wonderful work of Making The Leap! I’ve worked here for 12 years and in that time I have undertaken 5 different but rewarding roles – all of them involved working directly with our beneficiaries until I moved into Fundraising just over 3 years ago.

There have been so many amazing success stories but two young people stand out to me in particular. These two young men came to Making The Leap around a similar time and had coincidentally both been on the wrong side of the law.  They were both keen to learn from their mistakes by moving to a more positive path.  My colleagues and I provided them with mentoring, motivational and confidence building, career planning and job readiness support and as a result both now have returned to education in order to achieve their career aspirations. It has been wonderful to watch their progress; I admire their courage, determination and enthusiasm – it was great to be able to provide them with the platform to transform their lives.

Some interesting facts about me:

I am a fan of Bond movies, and I like going to Zumba classes.
